Challenge League: A leading trio is emerging, with Xamax among the leaders

Three teams are tied at the top of the Challenge League after matchday 10. Neuchâtel Xamax and Etoile Carouge, winners on Friday, join FC Thun, held to a draw in Bellinzona.

Opposed to Schaffhausen, the Xamaxiens took advantage of two quick goals from young Francesco Lentini (6th) and Shkelqim Demhasaj (14th) to put themselves into orbit. The reduction in Schaffhausen’s score at the end of the match did not prevent Uli Forte’s men from signing a fourth success in five matches.

Facing Stade Nyonnais, Etoile Carouge had to wait for added time to break the deadlock (3-1). Bonota Traoré (91st) and Matheus Vieira (93rd) allowed the newly promoted to pass the shoulder against the red lantern.

With 19 points in 10 matches, Xamax and Carouge therefore join Thun at the top of the ranking. In Ticino, the Bernese could not do better than 0-0.
