Belgium will not present itself with all of its leaders in the League of Nations. The selection led by Domenico Tedesco, which has one success (against Israel) and one defeat (against the Blues) in the tournament, will in fact be deprived of Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku during its next two outings (against Italy on October 10 in Rome then against the French team on October 14 in Brussels). Hit in the ankle with Manchester City against Inter Milan, the captain of the Red Devils asked to be exempt.

“He asked me to be away for this Nations League campaign to take care of his body. Of course we understand that. We follow all the meetings, especially our most important stars. Now they have 70 matches per season. It’s incredible and that’s why we accepted his request. But don’t worry: he will return to the selection,” Tedesco justified this Friday, ensuring that De Bruyne, despite his rant after the defeat against the Blues, wanted to participate in the next World Cup, in 2026.
Absent during the previous gathering, Romelu Lukaku will not be at the next one either. “He arrived late in Naples and he didn’t feel 100%. He is better today, but he still needs to do individual work in his club to get back to his best level. He also has a lot of meetings so he asked not to be included for this gathering,” commented Tedesco, in comments reported by DH. Thomas Meunier, who now plays for Lille, was not called up, unlike Malick Fofana, author of a double and an assist with OL in Glasgow on Thursday evening during the success against Rangers (1- 4). Leandro Trossard is making his return.
