Maximilian Ibrahimović, Zlatan’s son, is blowing things up

Damian van der Vaart, Jessey Sneijder, Ruben and Thomas van Bommel, Shaqueel van Persie, Luka and Kai Robben… It is obvious that carrying an iconic name on your back represents a weight and adds pressure. AC Milan is no exception, given the history it has with the children and grandchildren of former glories. There is also no need to recall the Maldini lineage which is bathed in the blood and genes of the Lombard club with Cesare, Paolo and Daniel. Beyond Italian romanticism, the Rossoneri offer a truly fantastic home to their young players: they have nurtured successive generations in the past and a similar story is currently being written by Zlatan Ibrahimović who is of his son Maximilian, the new darling of the young classes of AC Milan. The iconic Swedish striker returned to Milan Diavolo last season and his influence as a manager is felt in many areas. Indeed, the former PSG and FC Barcelona player plays a leading role in the training and development of young Milanese talents, such as the case of the Italian nugget Francesco Camarda which he himself managed to avoid a flight of this rough diamond towards the competition.

It is therefore understandable that he plays a similar role for his son, but there will be no special treatment as written La Gazzetta dello Sport. Maximilian is a “child of the Milanese tradition” and carrying the name Ibrahimović carries significant weight. A first major step was taken last summer with the signing of his first professional contract, thus becoming a complementary piece in the squad of Milano Futuro, a professional reserve team newly created by the management of the Rossoneri serving as a gateway for young players and cleaning up for unwanted veterans (Divock Origi, Fodé Ballo-Touré) or returning from injuries (Ismaël Bennacer). This season, observers and fans therefore expect Maximilian Ibrahimović to play between the Primavera and the Futuro team, but like Francesco Camarda, the Swedish nugget is destined to play in the first team in the very near future. But there is no rush, time is of the essence for both players, and Maximilian Ibrahimović is certainly on track to join the first team.

The prodigy son in Dad’s footsteps

After a draw (0-0) against Liverpool on the first day of the Youth League during which he started and played the 90 minutes, Maximilian Ibrahimović was renewed this Tuesday against Bayer Leverkusen in the starting lineup of the AC Milan primavera (3-1 defeat). Because yes, before really settling into the Milano Futuro reserve team, the young Swedish left winger spent the majority of his time with the Primavera. And one thing is certain: it works quite well for him. The team coached by Federico Guidi benefits from an increasingly decisive Maximilian Ibrahimovic: after the double against Udinese, Zlatan’s heir also signed the success against Empoli with a magnificent jewel. A few days later, he even scored a new goal against the youngsters of Inter Milan. Enough to make even more headlines in the various chronicles in Italy which only have eyes for Zlatan’s son. In total since the start of the season, Maximilian Ibrahimović has scored 4 goals in 6 matches played in the Primavera championship. Symbol of this good form: he has just been called up to the Swedish U18 national team for the next break.

While much was said about Zlatan’s absence during the long weeks of crisis in Paulo Fonseca’s first team, son Maximilian began to show, on Italian pitches, nostalgic flashes of his father with certain movements recognizable as on his goal against Empoli two weeks ago where he received the ball at the entrance to the area, taking the time to delay before landing a powerful shot which ended up landing under the opposing bar. The roles are different, probably the talent too, but the personality is the same. As well as celebrating with wide open arms while calling out to his teammates. The other key point in Maximilian’s development is his understanding with star Francesco Camarda on the pitch. The two players look for each other and are easily found in Federico Guidi’s 4-3-3. From now on, the time will be for confirmation with a call-up in the ranks of Milano Futuro in Serie C or even AC Milan in Serie A in sight. Paths, ideas, hopes for a Milan which works very well with young people.
