Champions League: the program for the 2nd day of the league phase, with Arsenal-PSG

Two weeks after its big return to our screens, the Champions League resumes this Tuesday, October 1st! Among the shocks that await us, Saint-Germain comes to challenge Arsenal on the Emirates pitch. Here is the program for this 2nd day of the league phase.

Kick-off for the second day of the Champions League league stage. As a reminder, in this new format, guaranteeing even more thrilling matches from the start of the campaign, 36 teams are entered. To qualify directly for the round of 16, our four French clubs – , Paris, Monaco and – will therefore have to battle to finish between 1st and 8th place. Here is what awaits the French clubs.

After a convincing start, Brest must confirm

Victorious in Guingamp against Sturm Graz (2-1), the Brestois continue their European dream. After a complicated defeat this weekend against (3-0), Éric Roy’s men have the qualities and the heart for this shock against Salzburg. Third in the Austrian championship, Pepijn Lijnders’ players got off to a bad start as they entered the competition, suffering a heavy defeat against Sparta Prague (3-0).

To follow the clash between Salzburg and Brest, tune in this Tuesday, October 1 at 6:45 p.m. on Canal+ Foot.

First big challenge for Paris Saint-Germain

Without pessimism, Parisian supporters have reason to worry: ultra-favorites against Girona, Luis Enrique’s men were almost held in check in the den of the Parc des Princes. Thanks to an unfortunate own goal from Paulo Gazzaniga in the 90th minute, the Rouge et Bleu finally won in the extremes. Shy and clumsy despite an encouraging first quarter of an hour, the Parisians will have to roll up their sleeves if they want to shake up the gunners of Arsenal, third in the Premier League.

Note that for this shock, the Parisian squad will have to do without the services of Ousmane Dembélé. Very decisive since the start of the season, the French striker was dismissed by Luis Enrique for ”disciplinary reasons”. The capital club will nevertheless be able to count on Bradley Barcola, top scorer in Ligue 1 with 6 goals, who should be associated with Randal Kolo Muani.

The clash between Arsenal and PSG will be followed this Tuesday, October 1 at 9 p.m. sharp on Canal+ Foot.

Lille receives the ogre of Madrid

Despite rather satisfactory results in the league, LOSC got off to a bad start to its European campaign. Suffering a first clear defeat against the Portuguese Sporting (2-0), Bruno Genesio’s men host at home the great Real Madrid, title holder and the most successful club in the history of the Big Ears Cup. For this shock, Lille supporters should witness the great return of Kylian Mbappé under the white tunic. It’s quite a challenge that awaits the Mastiffs, who will have to fight to create a surprise, even a miracle…

To follow the clash between Lille and Real Madrid, tune in this Wednesday, October 2 at 9 p.m. on Canal+.

Monaco is on the right track

Now second in Ligue 1, the Monegasques started their European campaign off to a flying start, winning 2 goals to 1 against FC Barcelona. Undefeated since the start of the season, the Principality club travels to Croatia for this second day. Faced with a feverish Dinamo Zagreb having suffered a huge 9-2 defeat two weeks ago against Bayern Munich, victory is perfectly possible for Adi Hütter’s men.

The meeting between Dinamo Zagreb and AS Monaco will be broadcast this Wednesday October 2 at 9 p.m. on Canal+ Foot.
