Beaufort-en-Anjou. A participatory project in the garden of the old Gée school

Saturday September 14, around ten residents rolled up their sleeves to clear the garden of the old Gée municipal school. 540 m² of land completely invaded by nature.

A participatory project initiated by the municipality of Beaufort-en-Anjou and the Gée advisory committee, who wish to find a new use for this building located on the side of the church. Built in 1869, as we can read on the facade, the school welcomed students until 1966 before being rehabilitated as a home in 1995. It has been unoccupied for around ten years.

Two public meetings were organized last winter. Several ideas were submitted. Contacts have been made with associations which have shown interest in the premises, but we must first make the classroom accessible, as an Establishment open to the public (ERP). The idea is also to make the link with the ecopark explains Maryvonne Meignan, deputy mayor. In the meantime, all little hands are welcome.
