On October 1, 5.43% of teachers in the academy were on strike, a rate almost identical to the national average.

It is a mobilization which ultimately received very little attention within the Lyon academy. This October 1, the inter-union called for demonstrations and to go on strike to demand salary increases and denounce government policy on education.

This Tuesday, October 1, only 5.43% of teachers were on strike in the Lyon academy. In the second level this rate of strikers rises to 7.88% while it was 2.27% in the 1st level according to the figures communicated by the Rectorate.

In detail, participation was higher in middle schools (8.54%) than in general and technological high schools (6.65%) and in vocational high schools (7.17%). Several high schools in eastern Lyon had announced that they would be on strike this October 1 for “demand more resources for public schools“.

The participation figures are lower than the last big days of mobilizations in national education. In March 2023, the strike rate was 6.08% in the academy and it was 5.51% last June.
