It took the death of Hassan Nasrallah for many to suddenly realize what had been obvious for several days, particularly with the pager explosions: the Israeli government had completely infiltrated Hezbollah. The latter is now fighting for his survival.

After Hezbollah, the Israeli army’s next target could be Iran.

The Israeli army destroyed a large part of Hamas. It is in the process of neutralizing Hezbollah. Logically, the next step would be to bring down the regime in Tehran and, in particular, to prevent it from finalizing the construction of a nuclear arsenal.

Hamas and Hezbollah posed a heavy military threat to the Israeli state. This is practically no longer the case.

Even more, the Lebanese, who generally hate Hezbollah, but who live under the terror of this Islamist movement, are rather happy to have an opportunity to get rid of this internal enemy.

Will they succeed? This is less clear.

This is because Hezbollah is a creation of Iran and until the Iranian regime is defeated, its leaders will work to rebuild Hezbollah.

More resources against Iran

The Israeli military now has more resources available to turn on its main enemy: Iran.

So much so that the Iranian government has just announced that the country’s supreme dictator, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been hidden in safe places.

A war against Iran would be different from a war against Hamas or Hezbollah. This is because Iran is a country of 80 million inhabitants which has a formidable army.

Also, even with the support of the United States, Israel’s objective towards Iran is surely not so much to defeat the country as to overthrow its regime.

This goal may be closer than it seems.

The reason is simple. The Iranian economy is doing very badly and Iranians are fed up with the dictates of religious leaders.

To put it more bluntly, the Iranian population is disgusted by the corrupt religious totalitarian regime that the mullahs have put in place. Religious people who fill their pockets, while the rest of the population becomes poorer.

glaring atomic problem

Despite everything, the Iranian regime is on the verge of deploying a nuclear arsenal.

Benjamin Netanyahu has always declared that he would never let Iran possess atomic weapons.

With atomic weapons, the Iranian regime would become almost untouchable, like that of North Korea.

Building on its victories against Hamas and against Hezbollah, the Israeli government therefore risks turning towards a new target: Iranian nuclear weapons production sites.

If the Israeli army struck Iran’s nuclear sites, most countries in the world would welcome such an attack.

Only a few dictatorships, such as China, Russia or North Korea, would protest vigorously.
