No, I had never won here (laughs). That’s not the case for a lot of guys on the team anyway. It’s an important step in a season to come and win here. Especially in recent years.
Did you come in particular to reassure yourself in the defensive sector?
We scared each other during the first three games. We lost in Lyon. We know that Toulouse carries a lot of the ball and plays a lot standing up so we had to make the effort defensively. Without that, we already knew the score, like the final. Sometimes we were on the verge of breaking but we always had that little effort which made the Toulouse people make a mistake.
You were able to resist Toulouse even though you weren’t the “perfect match”.
It’s difficult to dominate against Toulouse. We know very well that there are times when they will dominate with the ball. Above all, we shouldn’t falter in our weak moments like we did in the first three games. I think that Toulouse has also failed in a few things sometimes so we have to remain humble.
After the victory in Toulon last year, you are the first generation of UBB to come and win in Toulouse. Do you feel like you’re making a mark in the club’s history?
Few teams come to win here. We knew we were arriving in hostile territory so we must savor this victory. Now, unlike last year where we went from good to bad, we will have to continue on our two receptions. There are matches every weekend so you have to go back to work.

This victory allows you to definitively turn the page on the final?
In any case we confirm our good start to the championship. We said a lot of things to each other this summer after this completely failed end to the championship. We had to move forward and regain our confidence with a big start to the championship awaiting us. Today we just confirmed our good start to the season. Now we wanted to show another face. But we have to capitalize next week otherwise it will be useless.
