A Brink's truck lost part of its precious cargo at a toll booth on the A5 motorway in Seine-et-Marne. The cash conveyors did not realize this. Not all the bags were found.
It was an incredible scene which took place on Tuesday January 14, 2025 at the Montereau-sur-le-Jard tollbooth in Seine-et-Marne on the A5, the motorway which connects the south-east of the Île de France to the Langres plateau. He lost a pallet on which bags of silver beads were placed, Actu 17 revealed. These beads are used by jewelers to make jewelry.
The Brink's truck crossed the toll via one of the lanes at 30 km/h. When he accelerated again, a pallet allegedly slipped, hit the rear door of the truck and caused it to open. The contents then spilled onto the roadway. The pallet blocked an arriving heavy goods vehicle which alerted the highway company.
It seems that the cash couriers did not immediately realize the loss of their precious cargo. After noticing the incident they turned around at an area a few kilometers further on. When they arrived, agents from the highway company were already securing the scene.

Most of the bags of silver beads were found but not all. “The total weight found does not correspond to the quantity they were transporting”, indicates the public prosecutor of Melun Jean-Michel Bourlès to The Republic of Seine-et-Marne. Has a motorist had time to help himself in the meantime?
The theft investigation was entrusted to the CRS motorway. Video surveillance images must be used. The amount of damage is estimated at around €35,000, according to Actu 17.
