It should have been a relatively calm entry into the competition but Carlos Alcaraz made his task a bit complicated this Monday, in the first round of the Australian Open. Eight months ago, on the clay court of Madrid, the Spaniard literally swept away Alexander Shevchenko (today 77th in the world) 6-2, 6-1. On the Margaret Court Arena, he quickly broke away 6-1, 3-1, before experiencing a surprising slump and losing four games in a row. But a superb reaction then put him back in the saddle. Alcaraz ended up winning (6-1, 7-5, 6-1) in 1h54.
