Casper Ruud started his season today with a victory against Tomas Machac for the United Cup. The Norwegian had a rather satisfactory year in 2024, notably winning his first ATP 500 in Barcelona.
During the 'Media Day' of the United Cup, he was invited to talk about his objectives for 2025, and took the opportunity to slip in a little word about Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, believing that the Italian was perhaps a little above.
“One of my goals for this year is to go further in the Grand Slam tournaments. Staying in the top ten and putting myself in a position to do well in the biggest tournaments. If you finish the year in the top ten, it's been a good year, but I think being in the top five is also achievable, without a doubt. If you look at the players, in my opinion Sinner and Alcaraz have had two phenomenal years. Jannik is perhaps even more so because he was very consistent throughout the year, but Carlos won two Grand Slams and a Masters 1000.”
