WTA > Pat Cash on the level of the 8th player in the world: “Raducanu is undoubtedly better than her”

In remarks given to 3651987 Wimbledon winner Pat Cash spoke about the potential of Emma Raducanu, surprise winner of the 2021 US Open and now 57e world, after having experienced difficult seasons.

“It was interesting to see her play. She certainly has the talent to compete at the highest level. I watched footage of her US Open victory again on and it was phenomenal to remember how strong she was. She then had problems with her forehand from time to time and perhaps stress contributed to these injuries. For both men and women, there are one or two players at the top who have stood out, but there is a gap below and players can make it to the later stages of tournaments. For example, we saw Navarro (8e world) to win this year and Raducanu is undoubtedly a better player than her. Navarro is tough, crafty and competitive, but Raducanu has more qualities to her game. We just have to hope that Raducanu stays fit and can compete in matches, because she certainly has the talent to succeed. »
