“Rafa's influence on will continue long after his retirement. A global superstar, he was loved by fans around the world thanks to his dedication, resilience and personality. He helped tennis advance the game with his voice for the betterment of the sport. His self-control is a light, a reference for all young players in the world. In 1,307 matches on Tour, Rafa has never broken a racket. He always respected his opponents. A defeat was his responsibility. He was the first to compliment his opponent. He was the ultimate fighter: tenacious, intense, energetic in every fight. He treated everyone the same, from the volunteer to the tournament director. He was a role model, on and off the field. An inspiration for everyone. His work with the Rafa Nadal Foundation and his Academy will make his legacy even greater in the future, for new generations.
