It's historic. The ladies from the Eaubonne and Villiers-le-Bel tennis clubs will meet in the final of the elite French Pro A championshipsSaturday November 30 at the Colomiers club, twenty years after Taverny's title.
For the second time in Valdois history, a tennis club from the department will be French champion this year.
After the Cosmo Taverny in 2005, it will either be the Csm Eaubonneeither the Tc Villiers-le-Belalso among the ladies. The two teams finished at the top of their respective groups and will therefore face each other for the supreme title…
“We have a great team this year,” explained Eaubonnaise Émeline Dartron after the initial victories against Reichstett (5/1) and the defending champions from the Tremblay club (crushed with a severe 6/0).
It was at home where personally I still love playing, I know it well, there is a great atmosphere, specified the one who had just won her first international title in Villeneuve d'Ascq (see elsewhere). We were less good on paper, we are in a good position but there are still two big opponents. We're going to try to pull off the heist…
And the heist at the Eaubonnaise came to fruition with a small miracle on the fourth and final day, in Paris against the Tcp. Led 3-1 after the singles (three defeats in the super tie-break), the CSM girls managed to snatch the two doubles and the draw. Here they are qualified for the grand final.
Eaubonne vs Villiers-le-Bel
Surprise, they will find there the promoted from Villiers-le-Bel for an ultimate meeting 100% made in Val-d'Oise. The latter, after two matches won against Cormontreuil (4/2) then at Paris 16th (5/1), they also grabbed first place in their group on the wire, with two draws against La Roche/Yon and Boulogne -Billancourt.
The team's objective, for its first participation at this level, was obviously to stay there. “The girls were very motivated,” says captain Jérôme Boulay. We took it match by match, and like last year our pairs of doubles made the difference. We didn't think we would play the final, we are happy and proud, it's exceptional. The players have been there for a long time, united, we are a big family. We have 55% of our licensees who are women, this is the highest rate in France. There is a women's tennis project that makes things easier. Playing the final against Eaubonne, we couldn't have dreamed of better, I'm very happy to see them again, we all know each other well. No one expected this opposition at the start, everything had to be reorganized in a week! We’re going to play hard and we’ll see, it’s just a bonus…”
The results of the Valdoisiennes: Pro A, group A: Eaubonne beats Reichstett (5/1), Tremblay (6/0), Nice Giordan (4/1) and draws against Tc Paris (3-3). Pro A, pool B: Villiers-le-Bel beats Cormontreuil (4/2), Paris 16th (5/1), draws against La Roche/Yon and Boulogne-Billancourt (3-3).
