During an interview given to the Russian site Kommersantafter his elimination at the Masters, Daniil Medvedev announced the continuation of his collaboration with his advisor, Gilles Simon, started at the beginning of the year.
“This year has been difficult. Because of the Olympics, there was less time for in-depth work in training, so it was difficult for Simon to immediately make a big contribution to my preparation. He tried to do it little by little, mainly during Grand Slam tournaments, but nothing can be changed overall. This year, Simon and I got to know each other better and know each other well. We will now try to conduct careful pre‐season preparation together and see what results. I won't go into detail, but I have an idea to improve my game with the balls currently in use. It's not certain that this will work. But I have to try to find a way to beat Jannik Sinner again, to whom I have lost so many times in recent months. »
