ATP > Benjamin Bonzi: “In France, it's true that we don't have this super strong guy up front. Maybe it will be me, maybe it will be someone else”

Winner of 21 of his last 22 matches, Benjamin Bonzi had an exceptional end to the season, during which he was titled in Challenger in and (without forgetting his final in ) but also on the ATP circuit, in , notably beating Casper Ruud and Cameron Norrie.

Back in the top 100 and now 78e world, the 28-year-old gave an interview to Eurosport in which he discusses the current level of French and clearly displays his ambitions.

“(In ) it’s true that we don’t have this super strong guy up front, I hope that will happen, but the general French level is super high. Could this player be me? I hope so. These last few weeks have given me confidence for the future and reassure me that I have my place at this level. Deep down, I have the conviction that I can do even better than what I did before. I don't have an answer about the future, but I will do my best to achieve a better ranking than the one I had (42e worldwide in February 2023, Editor's note). Maybe it will be me, maybe it will be someone else. The more we are, the better it will be for French tennis in general. My ambitions have in any case changed for the start of 2025 which is coming. »
