A few days after revealing that Rafael Nadal had not made any request for an invitation to come and play at the Masters 1000 in which begins this Monday, October 28, the tournament director, Cédric Pioline, estimated that the Spanish champion should only to line up in doubles on the occasion of his grand farewell during the final stages of the Davis Cup (from November 19 to 24).

“It’s difficult to know if he feels good and if he thinks he can contribute something. From what I know about him, I think he will only play doubles to say goodbye and not jeopardize the team's result for his personal need to say goodbye. There is a form of risk (of not playing before) but he knows himself well, he has a whole team and I think that is clear in his head. The less we play, the less rhythm we have. The less rhythm we have, the less confidence we have. What is certain is that with all his injuries in two years, others would have thrown in the towel sooner. It must be recognized that he held on and chose when and where to stop. It’s priceless”declared the Frenchman among our colleagues at Majors.
