Xiaomi is set to release the Redmi K80 series in China on November 27. The company has already announced that this range will bring major improvements, with the Pro variant holding its own against other competitive flagships. However, the top-end variant is also expected to be more expensive than its predecessor.
As hinted by Thomas Wang, president of Xiaomi’s Redmi sub-brand, the price range could be around 1,000 euros; the price could be around 4,000 CNY in China (around $552) . For comparison, the Redmi K70 Pro launched in China with a starting price of CNY 3,299 (around $455). It’s a big leap from the last generation model, but it’s no surprise to see a Snapdragon 8 Elite phone more expensive than its predecessor.
Almost all recently launched Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship phones have seen a price increase. But Thomas Wang says the higher price will be justified for the Redmi K80 Pro. The executive adds that the upcoming phone has the most versatile battery specifications for its segment.
A recent teaser from the company also confirmed that the Redmi K80 Pro can achieve a record score on AnTec record score in AnTuTu. With the D1 chipset, this Snapdragon 8 Elite is also energy efficient. Another thing to note is that the K series models are no longer positioned to be affordable flagship phones, especially the Pro.
Instead, the company aims to deliver versatile flagship phones, while the Turbo series will take over from the Redmi lineup. The global prices of these phones are still under wraps, but the K80 series is expected to debut internationally as the Poco F7 series, and the phones in this global lineup could be more expensive than the F6 models (F6 Pro available on Amazon).
