The efficiency of the Snapdragon 8 Elite allows the OnePlus 13 and Rog Phone 9 Pro to benefit from 43% increased battery life and lag-free gaming

Qualcomm made some ambitious promises during the official presentation of the Snapdragon 8 Elite last month. The company claims that not only does the Snapdragon 8 Elite feature a 45% faster Oryon CPU and 40% faster Adreno GPU than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but the SoC also benefits from increased power efficiency of 44% and 40% in the CPU and GPU departments.

So, if Qualcomm’s numbers are correct, phones based on the Snapdragon 8 Elite should be much faster and more durable than devices based on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Based on Dave2D’s testing of the new OnePlus 13 and the Asus Rog Phone 9 Pro, Qualcomm indeed seems to have concocted something special with the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite is very energy efficient

In the PCMark battery test, Dave2D shows that the OnePlus 13 and Rog Phone 9 Pro last significantly longer than their Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 gen 3 counterparts. While the OnePlus 12 (5,400 mAh) only lasts 12 hours and 13 minutes, the OnePlus 13, with its 6,000 mAh cell, lasts for 17 hours and 25 minutes. Similarly, the Asus Rog Phone 9 Pro, with 300 mAh more, adds 3 hours and 19 minutes to the 11 hours and 10 minutes of the Asus Rog Phone 8 Pro Rog Phone 8 Pro.

If we put these figures into perspective, the OnePlus 13 with a battery capacity of 11.11%, benefits from 43% more autonomy. The Rog Phone 9 Pro, which has a 5.4% larger cell, benefits from a much larger 30% increase in endurance.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite allows you to play longer and without acceleration

The Snapdragon 8 Elite’s power efficiency also complements its gaming performance, as the SoC can not only game for longer, but also do so without slowing down. This is evident in Dave2D’s Genshin Impact test, where the Snapdragon 8 Elite-based OnePlus 13 and Rog Phone 9 Pro play for 1 hour and 48 minutes and 1 hour and 14 minutes longer than the OnePlus 12 and Rog Phone 8, respectively.

Even more impressive, the OnePlus 13 and Rog Phone 9 Pro suffered no thermal slowdown during the Genshin Impact test. It is true that robust cooling solutions play an important role, but the Snapdragon 8 Elite and its excellent efficiency are the key to success.
