Activision removes double XP tokens from players on Black Ops 6

If you play Call of Duty : Black Ops 6 or any other Call of Duty for several years, you know how much the double XP tokens can be valuable. Often distributed via collaborations with Monster or through any other similar event, they allow players to double the experience gained by activating them for several minutes, or even an hour. A particularly interesting advantage for improving your Battle Pass level, your weapon levels or even to increase your account level until you reach the highest Prestiges. But when Season 1 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 was released, players suffered a real injustice.

Indeed, on November 14, several players were surprised to see that their inventory was full of double XP tokens even though they normally had none on Black Ops 6. These were in fact those that they had left over. other games in the license, notably Modern Warfare III. Neither one nor two, those concerned hastened to use it to get a head start on the first Battle Pass of the Treyarch title. But this happiness was short-lived since the next day, the players' token inventory was empty again. The culprit? Activision themselves.

According to the publisher of Call of Duty, the fact that double XP tokens from previous games were accessible to certain players on Black Ops 6 was actually a bug. Worse still, the latter could cause stability concerns, which pushed Activision to correct the problem and withdraw the tokens for everyone. Unfortunately, this decision did not please the players very much…

Following the rage of the players, the tokens are indeed back

Since November 15, when double XP tokens were shamefully removed from players' inventories, the latter stormed the various social networks to denounce Activision's decision. It must be said that, as we said above, these tokens are particularly precious and it would be stupid to lose those which had not yet been used in previous opuses. In addition, this event came after another problem: that of the double XP tokens offered for the purchase of Monster products. A few days ago, some players who purchased cans of this brand complained of not having been able to take advantage of their tokens, the latter being displayed as “out of stock”, a shame for a digital product. Fortunately, is actually back in order:

With the start of Season 1, an interface bug allowed players to activate XP tokens from other games in Black Ops 6. Unfortunately, this also introduced some potential risks to the stability of the game, which is why we We patched the game yesterday.

We understand how much players appreciate being able to use legacy XP tokens in BO6 and Warzone, so we are testing a way to properly implement this change in a future update. This gives us time to ensure stability will be maintained before reintroducing this feature.

In the meantime, players can activate any old XP tokens in Warzone. Any tokens activated in Warzone will also be applied in Black Ops 6 if you change games or modes.

We look forward to sharing more information on this next week. Thanks for your patience.

You will have understood, it is a real victory for the players. If you had unspent double XP tokens in Modern Warfare III or even the other even older Call of Duty games, you can enjoy them again in Black Ops 6 right now. Indeed, if Activision's message above dates from several days ago, the developers have since succeeded in doing what they wanted.
