It’s been a while since evidence emerged of DJI’s preparations to replace the Osmo Mobile 6 (currently $139 on Amazon). More specifically, leaker @Quadro_News revealed in September 2023 that DJI had added references to the Osmo Mobile 7 in its mobile applications. However, nothing has been seen of the ball head since, despite the onslaught of posts from DJI since then.
It seems that the replacement of the Osmo Mobile 6 is near. Ultimately, information on a successor remains scarce. That being said, an often sure sign of a device’s upcoming release has surfaced online thanks to Jasper Ellens and Mauro Tandoi.
As seen in the screenshots below, DJI has certified the Osmo Mobile 7 with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States, which has also released initial documents for the device. Unfortunately, the FCC hasn’t revealed what the camera’s gimbal looks like. Instead, its recent certifications imply that DJI will introduce the Osmo Mobile 7 alongside the “OM Multifunctional Module” and a device called the Osmo Mobile 7P. While no further information about the trio is known yet, we believe the FCC’s disclosure of the document is the start of Osmo Mobile 7-related leaks rather than a one-off event.
