FC Lucerne will announce a loss of 2.5 million francs for the 2023/24 financial year at its general meeting on November 21. The club has taken steps to improve its economic situation.
In a press release, FC Lucerne indicates that the central point of its new strategy will be to separate responsibilities between the chairman of the board of directors and the CEO. This last position will be occupied from December 1 by Simon Laager, who will thus assume operational management of the club.
“We did not perform as expected,” summed up vice-president Josef Bieri. “Despite the transfer to Bruges of Ardon Jashari, we recorded a deficit of 2.5 million. The board of directors has taken measures, which have already partly been implemented. It goes without saying that we hope for a significantly more favorable 2024/25 financial year,” he explained.
Lucerne is still looking for a new president. Josef Bieri will appear on November 21 to take over as interim. Stefan Wolf, who held the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO, will step down at the end of the year.
