According to a screenshot shared by another user, an Amazon customer service representative confirmed that the company is working on a solution, potentially through a future software update. Amazon has yet to release an official statement, but reports indicate that a fix may be coming soon.
It is unclear how widespread the problem is. The Colorsoft Kindle currently has an average rating of 2.6 stars on the Amazon website. While some consider the yellow band to be barely noticeable, others say it significantly disrupts the reading experience.
In a unit tested by The Verge, journalist Andrew Liszewski notes that the discoloration is more obvious in photos than in person. He pointed out that if he hadn’t known about others’ complaints, he might not have noticed it at all.
