$99,000,000,000 withdrawal goes viral, with JPMorgan Chase accused of initiating massive transaction and freezing bank account.

An apparent banking blunder went viral after a Reddit user reported a massive withdrawal from his JPMorgan Chase account.

A post appeared on the front page of Reddit after the user said the bank abruptly withdrew more than $99 billion from his checking account.

According to the user, the withdrawal automatically caused their account to be frozen, and all attempts to contact customer service for an explanation failed.

“My current account has been in this state since last Monday. I called Chase and got transferred to five different departments and no one knows what’s going on.

And I have a mortgage that matures on the first of the month. Once this is sorted out, due to Chase’s incompetence, I’m considering moving to Wells Fargo.”

It wouldn’t be the first time a JPMorgan Chase account has been overdrawn by $99 billion.

In April 2016, a Chicago woman suddenly realized that $99 billion had been withdrawn from her late mother’s bank account.

At the time, Chase told ABC News she was “investigating the matter.”

In February 2020, a Texas woman was shocked to find that the account she shared with her late husband was also over $99 billion overdrawn.

In response to this report, a Chase representative said the company routinely places massive debts on accounts held by deceased individuals to protect them from unauthorized withdrawals.
