Creating a character on Baldur’s Gate 3 can already take a lot of time, between choosing class, race, and appearance, among other things. The Guardian Angel is a character who will appear later in the adventure. You don’t need to worry about that right now. It’s not something you’re likely to miss or forget along the way. It is not a companion, nor an invocation. It’s also not like pawns in Dragon’s Dogma. It is advisable to give it an appearance that you like, even that you find attractive, for questions of immersion. Best to save the fancy choices (ugly character, or identical to your protagonist) for later.
What is the Guardian Angel? (Spoilers)
From a certain point of the adventure, the Guardian Angel will appear in your dreams, as well as in those of the other members of the group. He (or she) reveals to them that he saved their lives when the Nautiloid crashed, and watches over them from what appears to be a supernatural battlefield. He encourages you to use the power of the larva, in order to survive, and defeat the forces of the Absolute. He will also encourage you to use the larvae extracted from the Awakened Souls serving the Absolute.
This nevertheless seems contradictory, and it is impossible to determine at the start, if it is a benevolent but pragmatic character, or if it is a trap set by a very powerful dreamlike entity, like the Absolute or others, in order to corrupt you. .
There’s absolutely no doubt that how you deal with this character, and whether or not you decide to use the larvae power, will heavily influence the ending of the game. The guide dedicated to these choices and their ramifications will be coming soon , we can not say more for the moment.
For the record, this character was very different in early access, he wore a light dress and openly made advances to you with a sexual connotation, while encouraging you to use the larva. Which made the potential trap much more obvious in this context. Larian Studios may have anticipated all of this to put players on the wrong track.
