On the occasion of the big maintenance of June 2023 Microsoft has released the Windows 10 update KB5027215. It closes several security vulnerabilities. Unfortunately, not everything goes as planned. Problems appear in particular on the side of Windows Update. Its installation sometimes takes a lot of time.

The deployment of KB5027215 is provided by Windows Update. This is a mandatory update, so its download and installation are automatic. A report mentions that the process is not working properly. In some cases PCs are victims of a bug blocking the installation.

In other (more numerous) cases Windows Update takes more than half an hour to install the update, which many consider excessive. This problem seems particularly widespread. Users also report a lengthy “cleaning up” process following the installation of the update. This happens when rebooting concurrently for Cumulative Update and .NET Update.

Some users also find that the update is simply not installed. One of the suggested solutions is to temporarily disable any third-party antivirus software. Finally reports mention that despite running the troubleshooter and a disk cleanup the update still fails to install.

If you are having critical issues with the latest Windows 10 update, it is possible to uninstall it. To do this, you must go to this address

Paramètres > Mise à jour et sécurité > Windows Update > Afficher l’historique des mises à jour

Then click on “Uninstall updates” then select the said update to proceed with its uninstallation. A restart of the PC will be required for the changes to take effect. If Windows 11 is the big star of the Microsoft catalog, Windows 10 remains relevant. It will be officially discontinued in October 2025.
