On the occasion of the deployment of its ranges of smartphones and connected watches in China, Xiaomi has rewarded us with two new pairs of headphones true wireless. Named Redmi Buds 6 and Redmi Buds 6 Pro, these iterations join the Redmi Buds 6 Play, Redmi Buds 6 Lite and Redmi Buds 6 Active, all released earlier this year.

Redmi Buds 6 Pro: a new 3-way sound architecture

Like their predecessors in the 5 series, the Redmi Buds 6 Pro aim to offer precise sound reproduction at an unbeatable price. Xiaomi has therefore made the effort to make some improvements. The most interesting of these is the integration of an additional transducer dedicated to midrange frequencies, in addition to units dedicated to bass and treble. We can then expect a slightly more precise sound signature, particularly on vocals.

The Redmi Buds 6 Pro also feature a new spatial audio mode and incorporate the Bluetooth LDAC and LHDC compatibility of their predecessors. The Chinese brand also announces up to 55 dB of noise attenuation and a reduction of wind noise to 12 m/s. In both cases, the announced performances are superior to those of their predecessors. As usual, we will take these figures with a grain of salt, since the Redmi Buds 6 Pro were limited to 25 dB of attenuation for the 52 dB announced.

In terms of autonomy, Xiaomi announces more timid performance of 36 hours of autonomy with noise reduction activated, compared to 38 hours for its predecessor. The Redmi Buds 6 Pro are already available in China in black, white and green colors for 399元. Note that a version for gamers black/orange with a USB-C dongle included is priced at 499 元.

Redmi Buds 6: expected improvements in noise reduction

Also featuring a semi-in-ear stem design and sold with a flat case, the Redmi Buds 6 are an unmarked version of the Redmi Buds 6 Pro. Unlike the latter, they use the acoustic architecture of the Redmi Buds 5, composed of a bass transducer and a tweeter. However, the promises in noise reduction and wind noise attenuation now extend to 49 dB and 9 m/s. Spatial audio has also been added, and the battery life is supposedly extended to 42 hours thanks to the additional charges offered by their case.

Like their high-end colleagues, the Redmi Buds 6 are currently only available in China at a price of 199元, in black, white and green finishes.
