A demo to download on PS5

It’s now an open secret, a demo of FFXVI is on the way and it should be arriving soon. Spotted at the end of an advertisement which offers to go download it now, it should offer a first contact with the gameplay of the game and the characters of the kingdom of Valisthéa. If we refer to what was offered with that of FF7 Remake, there is a way that the entire first hour of Clive Rosfield’s epic is offered. Make some space on your PS5 hard drives, it shouldn’t take long to happen.

Our opinion on the first hours of play

We had the chance to test the game for a few hours, just to bring you back a first opinion on what the blockbuster of the Creative Business Unit 3 has in store for us. for Square Enix. To make it short: it’s a great show, with its good and bad sides. On the visual and artistic level, nothing to say, just like for the fights which benefit from the experience of Ryota Suzuki, combat designer on the excellent Devil May Cry 5 in particular, and new recruit from Square. On the other hand, the construction of the very linear zones and the abundance of scripts worry about the structure of the game, but it is very likely that it has some nice surprises in store for us on this side, or at least we hope so.

Battle gameplay

Goodbye turn-by-turn and hello ultra-edgy action: FFXVI wipes the slate clean of the past to offer a 100% beat ’em up turn fully assumed. No more classic RPG systems with character customization to calibrate to the smallest detail, but spectacular dynamic confrontations that will require reflexes and quick decision-making. It’s disconcerting, but it’s ultimately only the logical continuation of what was started with Final Fantasy XV, except that this time it’s fully assumed and it should make a big difference controller in hand.

Universe and characters

The world of Valisthéa promises a lot and all these stories of fights of primordials and super class emissaries come as a bit of icing on the cake. We are promised a very dark and epic scenario with the journey of Clive Rosfield, young guardian of the Phoenix emissary whose journey we will follow for a good part of his life. Openly inspired by Game of Thrones, we hope that the CBU3 game will be able to deal with the recurring themes of the series, which are an integral part of its identity.
