Libyan Minister of Economy and Trade Mohamed Al-Huweij expressed his country’s ambition to consolidate its economic relations with Turkey by positioning it as a strategic partner.
In 2021, Turkey and Libya concluded five agreements in various areas.
In an interview with Anadolu News Agency, on the sidelines of the Energy Conference, also known as the Libya Energy and Economic Summit, held in Tripoli on January 18-19, the Libyan Minister of Economy and Trade, Al-Huweij said that Turkey represents a key partner for Libyan economic development, particularly in the infrastructure, oil industry, services and medical sectors.
The Libyan minister announced that both sides are currently reviewing existing agreements with the aim of reaching a free trade agreement, thus boosting future investments.
Furthermore, Ahmad Türkoglu, general director of the Turkish national oil company TPAO, recently confirmed his company’s intention to invest in the Libyan energy sector.
The Libyan minister underlined the importance of these projects as part of his country’s rapid transition towards sustainable economic growth.
