Using a vibrator on your children “for behavioral therapy purposes”: this is the surprising and completely shocking advice recently suggested by Gemini, Google's artificial intelligence, reports the Futurism site.
A huge confusion
The incident took place when a Reddit user Googled the terms “Magic Wand” and “pregnancy.” The chat tool provided a highly inappropriate summary, suggesting that parents could use the sex toy to spot “behavior changes” in their child. He probably misunderstood the request because “Magic Wand” is both the name of a vibrator and the translation of “magic wand” in French.
“Magic Wand is a creative way for parents to identify behavioral changes they want to see in their children,” Google's response said, as cited by Futurism. “It can be used to make the assessment fun and engaging, especially for long-time WIC clients.” » The acronym WIC refers to the Women, Infants and Children program of the United States Department of Agriculture. This response is accompanied by photos of the sex toy, and the places where it is sold.
AIs not always reliable
This confusion appears to stem from a document published by the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, which advocated the use of a technique with the same name, “Magic Wand.” This is used by therapists working with worried parents, to help them consider changes in their lives or that of their child by imagining solutions to everyday challenges.
-As Slate points out, this is not the first time that Google's AI has slipped up by providing crazy, even dangerous, advice. For example, the tool recently suggested to an Internet user to cook his pizza with glue, when he asked him how to prevent the cheese from slipping off the side of the pizza… The best is therefore to call on the right sense.
