Snapdragon 8 Elite: 7-core variant appears on Geekbench alongside OnePlus Open 2

Qualcomm sneakily revealed a scaled-down version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite a few days ago. This device was designed for devices with limited cooling capabilities, such as foldable smartphones. Today we can see it in action alongside the Oppo Find N5 Oppo Find N5 namely OnePlus Open 2.

The new Snapdragon 8 Elite scores 3,083 in Geekbench 6.1’s single-core tests – tied with its 8-core counterpart in Geekbench 6.1 – tied with its 8-core counterpart. At multi-core, it scores 8,865 points, which makes it about 6% slower using our benchmark tests (9,404 ). This particular variant of the Oppo Find N5 comes with 16GB of RAM and runs Android 15.

Overall, the trade-off between multi-core performance and better thermal insulation is acceptable, as it will allow the Snapdragon 8 Elite to maintain its clocks a little longer. The Oppo Find N5 will be one of the thinnest foldable smartphones to launch in 2025, and it is expected to debut sometime in February. So far, this is the only device confirmed to launch with Qualcomm silicon, but it’s only a matter of time before more appear.
