TikTok’s fate in the United States could benefit other platforms. Bluesky has just announced the arrival of a personalized feed which will be dedicated to displaying vertical videos. X / Twitter took the opportunity to offer the same thing to its users in the United States.
After Instagram and its Edits video editing application, designed to compete with TikTok’s CapCut app, it is Bluesky’s turn to announce a new feature to try to attract TikTok users. While the future of the ByteDance network still remains uncertain in the United States, Bluesky has just launched a personalized feed entirely dedicated to vertical videos. The social network is not the only one to surf on the unstable situation of TikTok since X / Twitter has just followed suit.
Bluesky allows you to “swipe” videos like on TikTok
On the Bluesky mobile application, you can now find, in the Explore tab, a feed dedicated to trending videos. A new flow which is reminiscent of what exists elsewhere, notably on TikTok, since the videos presented there, displayed in full screen in vertical format, can be “swiped”.
Small particularity however, this flow of vertical videos will not be unique to Bluesky. The social network has in fact indicated that several Bluesky clients are working on supporting the display of this video stream.
« We also had to get into the world of video: Bluesky now offers personalized feeds for videos!
As with any other feed, you can choose to pin them or not. Bluesky is here for you to customize it to your liking. »Indicated the platform on its Bluesky account.
X / Twitter also in the race for vertical videos
A few hours after Bluesky’s announcement, X/Twitter decided to follow suit, also hoping to take advantage of TikTok’s unstable position in the United States. The social network bought by Elon Musk thus revealed, in a message published on its official account, the deployment of a new tab dedicated to vertical videos.
This ” new immersive Home for videos » is, however, currently only deployed to users residing in the United States. As on Bluesky, vertical videos from X / Twitter are displayed in full screen and can be “swiped” in the same way as on TikTok (and Instagram Reels).
