Even though since its launch in June 2023, Diablo IV has generated over a billion dollars in revenue, with $150 million coming from in-game microtransactions, unfortunately hack'n'slash tends not to age like a fine wine. The extension Vessel of Hatred failed to convince us, due to lazy content and lack of innovation. Faced with the rise of competitors such as Path of Exile 2now available in early access, and Titan Quest 2whose release is scheduled for the end of winter, Blizzard must react to maintain player interest. It is in this context that the publisher announces Season 7 of Diablo IVentitled “Season of Hexes”.

During the Season of Hexes, players will be invited to join a coven of witches and wizards in the Hawezar region, in order to unravel the mystery of the stolen heads of the Tree of Whispers, for a new narrative quest justifying the fact that the 'we go and harvest the monster as we reap the wheat.
Among the notable additions, “curses” make their appearance. These new powers come in three distinct schools:
- Sinister: Focused on raw power and shapeshifting.
- Psyche: Focused on mind spells, causing visions and destabilizing effects on opponents.
- Grow and Wither: Manipulating the energies of life and death to cure or inflict devastating diseases.
The season also introduces “putrephales”, abominations resulting from stolen heads, which players will have to hunt down during headhunts. These missions will offer specific rewards, with unique items and new legendary aspects. Additionally, the Armory will now allow players to quickly save and change configurations, including equipment, skills and paragon points. An improvement which responds to a recurring request from the community, and which should allow the experimentation of different builds in a much more flexible way.
-All of the additions and changes made by Season of Hexes are available here. This new season will begin on January 21, 2025.
