Liu Zuaho, Senior Vice President of Oppo, has just created an event on Weibo by announcing the imminent arrival of the successor to the OnePlus Open. You will only have to wait a few weeks.
It is now confirmed. The new folding smartphone, which is expected to be released in China as the Oppo Find N5, will debut in February 2025 before a likely global launch at Mobile World Congress in early March.
In addition to the launch window, we already know more about the dimensions of the device. The Chinese manufacturer aims to dethrone the Honor Magic V3, current record holder for the thinnest folding smartphone in the world, with measurements less than 9.2 mm in the closed position and 4.4 mm when unfolded.
What do we know about the OnePlus Open 2?
Under the hood, this new flagship will feature the processeur Snapdragon 8 EliteQualcomm’s latest high-end chip. The photo system, developed in partnership with Hasselblad, will include three 50-megapixel sensors accompanied by a periscope lens, promising top-notch photographic performance.
-The innovations don’t stop there. According to several reliable Chinese sources, the OnePlus Open 2 will benefit from a revisited industrial design incorporating titanium for better durability. The device will also have an impressive battery approaching 6000 mAh, wireless charging, and a satellite communication function.
The overall design will retain the clean lines of its predecessor, with flat edges and rounded corners, while displaying a slimmer silhouette than a pencil. The device will also be certified waterproof, a particularly valuable feature for a folding smartphone.
This strategic launch, scheduled before the arrival of the new folding models from Samsung and Google scheduled for Julycould allow OnePlus to establish itself in the premium folding smartphone market. The Chinese manufacturer seems to have taken advantage of the additional development time to offer a successful device, which is not content to be a simple evolution compared to the first generation.
