The Debian distribution continues to evolve. Update 12.9 fixes several of 110 bugs and security vulnerabilities. At the end of December, the first alpha version of the future 13.0 (Trixie) was distributed.

This version promises to be heavy:

– Linux kernel 6.12 LTS: this version should be the default version

– 1st support for the RISCV64 architecture: this architecture is the 64-bit version of RISC-V

– removal in Alpha 1 of support for ARMel and i386 CPU architectures

– new default theme: Ceratopsian

– removal of non-free firmware packages

– updated more than 42,800 packages including GNOME, KDE Plasma, MATe, LibreOffice, MariaDB, etc.

– Secure Boot support on ARM64 architecture
