Around a hundred The Witcher 3 developers still work at CD Projekt – News

Perhaps wanting to reassure players about the feeling of continuity between The Witcher 3 and The Witcher 4, although the latter represents a real change of cycle with the highlighting of Ciri as the new main protagonist, Michał Nowakowski highlighted the means that around a hundred members of the team The Witcher 3 still works at CD Projekt, almost ten years after the release of the RPG which sold more than 50 million copies.

« The Witcher 3 will be 10 years old next May. About 100 of its developers are still working with us on our new projects, including The Witcher 4. Some are actually veterans of The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 1, including my esteemed co-CEO, Adam Badowski, who is present in the series since its debut in 2002 », we can read on X. In fact, we know that 400 people are at work on The Witcher 4which means that the majority of the team is still made up of new blood who have never worked on The Witcher in the past.

This post followed another post from quest designer Philipp Weber on The Witcher 3 and promoted to narrative director on The Witcher 4. Philipp Weber explained that the side quest released in December 2022 in update 4.0 of The Witcher 3 served as an exercise for new designers and authors, preparing themselves for the development of The Witcher 4. To design this quest, the new recruits worked under the supervision of a veteran designer who had been present since the first The Witcher.

Michał Nowakowski’s intervention also reminds us that the first studios founded by CD Projekt veterans are starting to make themselves known. We first think of Rebel Wolves. Formed in 2022 around Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, director of The Witcher 3this studio is about to unveil The Blood of Dawnwalker, its action role-playing game dark fantasy. Not content with counting in its ranks a good number of former CD Projekt executives, Rebel Wolves is financed by NetEase Games and has found in Bandai Namco a partner of choice to distribute its game. Bandai Namco which, that has nothing to do with ‘a coincidence, was already the editor of The Witcher 2 et The Witcher 3. And this will surely not have escaped Michał Nowakowski, the first presentation of The Blood of Dawnwalker is scheduled for this Monday, January 13 at 10 a.m.
