Apple’s home automation screen would have been pushed back

Apple was initially reportedly planning a launch as early as early this year, but Apple’s home automation display often dubbed HomePad is ultimately expected to arrive later. Last month, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo announced a postponement to the summer, and today it is Mark Gurman who confirms on Bloomberg that the marketing of this product will arrive later than expected.

The journalist affirms that the operating system of this new product, undoubtedly called homeOS, would rely heavily on an evolution of App Intents for Apple Intelligence, which allow developers to better integrate the actions and content of their applications with the voice assistant. from Apple. However, these developments will not arrive before April on iOS 18.4 (with the French version of Apple Intelligence), and Apple is even planning an evolution of this integration of apps with Siri with iOS 19, which will be presented in June and which will be launched in September.

Numerama hair concept

Mark Gurman therefore confirms a later launch than expected, but without specifying whether it will be by summer or rather this fall once iOS 19 is available. New system requires, however it would not be surprising if Apple made an announcement at WWDC in June so that developers can prepare their apps for launch.

This screen dedicated to home automation would have a small screen, a priori square in shape with a diagonal of almost 6 inches. It could be attached to a wall, but also placed on a base incorporating a speaker (which could therefore take the form of a future HomePod mini). The device would integrate a camera for videoconferencing and user recognition. It would be compatible with Apple Intelligence, and could therefore integrate the A18 chip. Apple is also reportedly preparing a HomePod model featuring a screen mounted on a robotic arm, but this model would not arrive before 2026.
