These microcomputers, specialties of our editor-in-chief, are at the heart of our attention, even more so when a new model comes out on the market. So, obviously, with the launch of the Pi 5 in 16 GB format, we could only talk about it. So here we go, follow us on an overview of the very latest model from the Raspberry Pi Foundation, following the standard Pi 5!
A worthy successor to the Raspberry Pi 4
When we look at the technical sheet of the Pi 5 16 GB, we discover, brought together in a microcomputer, all the desire of the Raspberry Pi Foundation to innovate. Here, the new generation offers a completely new configuration with unprecedented performance.
Intended, like the other models in the range, for DIY projects, educational projects, or even light industrial applications, the Raspberry Pi 5 includes a number of major improvements. For AI and for the climate
Beyond performance, almost doubled compared to the Pi 4, the Raspberry Pi 5 16 GB also aims to adapt to modern challenges. Thus, the Foundation has prepared an ecosystem specifically adapted to the complex calculations necessary to run AI models, through specifically adapted components.
But that’s not all: the Foundation is offering buyers of a Pi 5 16 GB the opportunity to contribute to offsetting their carbon footprint, by purchasing a Carbon Removal Credit for $4. An option which makes it possible to finance the ERW (Enhanced Rock Weathering) program, consisting of the dispersion of basalt for CO2 capture.
