Gemini goes a step further and gets the functionality to provide information about PDF files. Google’s famous artificial intelligence service has indeed received an update for its Android version with which it broadens its scope of action. The innovation that has just been mentioned concerns a new small Gemini extension which allows you to interact directly with PDF files when they are opened on our Android smartphones. Indeed, the new Gemini function allows you to quickly request information about the PDF file you are viewing. In this way, it will be possible to request information immediately contextualized in relation to the file you are consulting. To access this feature, you will need to open the PDF file you are interested in via the PDF viewer built into the Google Files app. So we will have to start Gemini using one of its shortcuts and, if the function has already arrived, we will see a button at the top of the Gemini window with the caption “Request information about this PDF”.

By launching this option, we will see a Gemini dialog box already contextualized in the opened PDF file. We can then submit our request, either by typing from the keyboard or by voice input. The answers provided will all relate to the PDF file we are viewing. It is therefore a functionality similar to what we have in the Gemini application, with the advantage of not needing to download any files. The new function is already distributed in Italy too, to be sure to receive it soon, check that the Google application is updated to at least version 16.0.5.
