Remake Oblivion: a new clue brings substance to the rumor | Xbox

In July 2023, an astonishing rumor about a remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion under Unreal Engine 5 circulated on Reddit. It gained momentum a few months later following the leak of confidential documents as part of Microsoft's takeover of Activision Blizzard King, then finally resurfaced in recent days through the insider eXtas1s. While the announcement now seems imminent, a new indicator could very well indicate that such a project is indeed in development.

New clue adds substance to Oblivion remake rumor

Once again, X user Timur222 made a particularly interesting find on the LinkedIn profile of Oleksii Moskovchenko, Technical Director at Virtuos. He indeed spotted the mention of an unannounced remake planned for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, and developed via the Unreal Engine 5.

We can easily make the link with the Oblivion remake, since the person who leaked the project in 2023 claimed to be a former employee of Virtuos. She had also mentioned other productions, including a new DLC for New World, which later turned out to be true.

Today, many rumors in the corridors suggest that this famous remake should be the surprise of a probable Xbox Developer_Direct, which could take place at the end of the month.

As a reminder, this is a format initiated by Xbox in 2023, in which we can learn a lot about games coming during the current year. During the first edition, in 2023, when only four games were on the program, Tango Gameworks joined the party to unveil Hi-Fi RUSH and make it immediately available.

We can now assume that if there is Xbox Developer_Direct, the announcement will take place sometime this week, if the pattern is the same as in previous years. What is certain is that an unofficial remake of Oblivion will see the light of day in 2025.
