Wi-Fi is a quick and easy way to connect to the Internet. In Windows 11, it is possible to simply activate or deactivate this wireless communication technology.
By default, Windows 11 activates Wi-Fi if the hardware necessary for its proper functioning is present. This choice allows it to automatically search for and connect to available access points.
However, this type of connection is not always necessary for various reasons. For example if an Ethernet connection is used or if a temporary or permanent block to the Internet is necessary. In this case Windows 11 offers several ways to deactivate this wireless communication technology.
Windows 11, two methods to activate or deactivate Wi-Fi
The simplest approach is to use the Wi-Fi icon in the system tray to the right of the taskbar. A single mouse click opens the quick settings panel. The WIN+A keyboard shortcut allows you to go even faster.
If a blue background is present this indicates that Wi-Fi is activated, otherwise it is deactivated. To connect to another wireless network click the arrow to the right of the Wi-Fi icon.
The other less practical approach is to go through Settings (WIN+I) to go to Network and Internet. On the right the list shows the Wi-Fi connection and an option to activate or deactivate it. there is also the possibility of choosing automatic reconnection after a certain period of time.
As is often the case, Microsoft offers different ways to accomplish a task depending on your level of knowledge and mastery of Windows.
