Apple Plans: 360-degree view is now on the web

After launching a public beta version of Apple Maps for the web this summer, allowing access to information on places and routes directly from a browser without using an Apple device, the Apple brand is adding a feature: 360 degree view. Also known as Look Around, in English, this equivalent of Google Street View, which Apple began to deploy on its products in 2019, offers, like its competitor, an immersive experience by allowing you to explore places with interactive images.

When these immersive panoramas are available in a region, a binoculars icon appears in the lower left corner of the map. Just click this button to virtually stroll through the streets of various parts of the world displaying the 360-degree view captured by Apple’s camera-equipped cars.

However, as the Lookmap site shows, the geographic coverage of Apple’s service, accessible at the address beta.maps.apple.com, remains limited compared to that of Google Street View, with many regions of the world still missing. the call. Furthermore, certain features are still missing, such as user-generated content and the image history function allowing you to visualize the evolution of a location over time.
