A new tech tool at Carrefour. This time, it is the employees who will benefit. From December 18, “CarrefourIA” allows all group employees who wish to use this technology on a daily basis in an environment secured by the group. “CarrefourIA is capable of analyzing documents or helping to write or reformulate texts in more than 40 languages”lists in particular the distributor.
The objective is to facilitate the writing of communications (emails, job descriptions, translation, summary, etc.). Behind this interface, the tool is based on Google’s Gemini model. This was first tested with around a hundred employees in order to refine it and obtain initial feedback. To now ensure its deployment to as many people as possible, the group’s teams have set up training courses to present possible use cases.

Carrefour is not its first attempt with this technology. In particular, in June 2023, it launched the Hopla chatbot for its online customers to help them create their baskets. This virtual assistant here relied on ChatGPT, Open AI’s generative AI tool. Since then, the group has preferred to strengthen its partnership with another American, Google.
Like him, other distributors have launched their IAG internally for employees, like Ikea, LVMH, Nestlé and Picard to name a few. The challenge is twofold: it is about supporting the teams in order to help them on a daily basis with tasks with lower added value. In addition, these IAGs are secure and thus allow companies to keep their data communicated to the tool in a secure and closed environment.
