Mainly copies of minutes of meetings of an advisor to the legendary group and legal summons, they were acquired by an anonymous buyer for the sum of 9,000 pounds (10,900 euros).
While creative differences, the pressure of fame and John Lennon’s wife, Yoko Ono, were blamed for the breakup of the Fab Fourthese documents shed light on the numerous legal battles that weighed on the life of the group.
Among them, the one launched by Paul McCartney against the decision of the other members to hire Allen Klein as manager, after the death of Brian Epstein.
The issue of music and film royalties as well as Klein’s inability to produce annual accounts for the tax administration are also at the heart of the issues that tore the group apart, as these documents attest.
The group announced their breakup in 1970 even though the legal separation process was not finalized until 1974.
