Alfa Romeo’s situation remains fragile in North America, it’s no secret. This week, a user on the Reddit platform published figures that put into perspective the catastrophic reality that dealers in the United States are experiencing.
On average, they sell seven models per month. SEVEN !

The calculation
The calculation is simple to do. The number of concessions to Uncle Sam’s countries is currently 110 (it was 135 in 2022). This year, the brand has seen its sales decline by 10% since the start of the year, and by 29% in the third quarter. Thus, during the first nine months of 2024, the company sold only 6,826 vehicles.
To be more precise, this means that on average, each brand dealer sold 68 vehicles in 9 months, for an average of 6.9 models on a monthly basis.
Considering that some have to do better than others, it really can’t be easy for a handful of them.
Monthly sales of course vary from dealership to dealership and brand to brand, but generally, a hundred vehicles per month is not an uncommon thing. On average, in the United States, we are talking about 50 vehicles per month, per dealership. For smaller players, it can be around 15 models, especially in more remote locations. For the biggest, it exceeds a hundred.
We are far from the mark with Alfa Romeo.

Le Tonale
Fortunately the Tonale is there. The third model introduced by the brand almost two years ago accounted for more than half of the company’s sales in the third quarter, which is exactly what officials anticipated when it was launched. The very aging Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV saw their results drop by 36% and 41%, in order, during the same period. Fewer than 1,000 units of these two models were sold between July and September in the United States.
Alfa Romeo is of course one of the brands of the Stellantis group, which has just seen its CEO, Carlos Tavares, resign from his post due to differences with other leaders.
