Microsoft is playing with the calendar to offer its Xbox Game Pass subscription at a lower cost. The €1 trial offer was withdrawn just before the launch of Call of Duty Black Ops 6, but it has just made a comeback, although unfortunately limited.
The €1 Xbox Game Pass promotion is gone, but it's back for PC
Since the launch of the on-demand gaming service Xbox Game Pass in 2017, several waves of promotions have been deployed by Microsoft to introduce its service to as many people as possible.
To attract more customers, a discovery offer of €1 for the first month had been offered for a long time, but Microsoft had put an end to it in 2023, as confirmed by Kari Perez, head of global communications at Xbox in March 2023.
We have ended our introductory offer for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass and are evaluating different marketing promotions for new members in the future.
This €1 offer allowed you to discover Xbox Game Pass for €1 for the first month before being charged the full price. But since then, Microsoft has made several changes:
- The €1 trial offer promotion only applies for 14 days instead of a full month.
- The price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has increased from €12.99 to €17.99.
- The price of PC Game Pass has increased from €9.99 to €11.99.
- The Xbox Game Pass Console has been removed from sale in favor of the Xbox Game Pass Standard at €12.99, but this subscription no longer includes Xbox games as soon as they are released
But recently, the €1 offer is back for those who are not yet subscribed to PC Game Pass or the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription (which includes PC Game Pass). It is only available for a first subscription to PC Game Pass and only applies to a 14-day trial. After that, the subscription will automatically renew at a rate of €11.99 per month.
