One of the latest models (yes, the list is long) from Garmin is called Lily 2 Active, designed specifically for women. If its design and lightness are attractive, certain technical limitations and its high price could work against it.
Garmin presents its Lily 2 Active as the ideal connected watch for active women. With its elegant and feminine design, its features dedicated to health and sports monitoring, and its comfortable autonomy, it has something to seduce. But what is it really?
A neat and feminine design
First observation: the Garmin Lily 2 Active is a very discreet and elegant watch. Its small size and pastel colors make it particularly suitable for women’s wrists. The aluminum case and silicone strap are comfortable to wear, and the screen, hidden under patterned glass, gives it an original look. It weighs 29 grams and its case has a diameter of 38 mm (for 11 mm thickness).
A perfectible screen and navigation
Despite its aesthetic appearance, the Lily 2 Active screen has some limitations. It is a basic LCD screen (240×201 pixels), which displays little information simultaneously (no color, but 16 levels of gray). Menu navigation is done via a small touch area located at the bottom of the screen, which is not always intuitive. The menus are also quite limited, and we regret the absence of a more complete and responsive OLED screen.
Sports features and health tracking
The Lily 2 Active has an integrated GPS, which allows you to precisely monitor your outdoor sports activities, such as running or walking. It also offers a wide range of features for health tracking, such as sleep tracking, menstrual cycle tracking, stress level measurement, and heart rate monitoring. Add to this the preview of smartphone notifications (your choice) and the possibility of contactless payment by linking your bank card to Garmin Pay, and you still have a fairly rich software proposition. The Garmin Connect application, free and complete, allows you to analyze your sports and health data, participate in challenges, and connect with other users.
Autonomy and recharging
The autonomy of the Lily 2 Active is a good point. Garmin announces up to 9 days of use in smartwatch mode, which is verified in practice. However, we regret the use of a proprietary charging port (see photo below), while wireless charging or a USB-C port on a small charging base (like OnePlus) would be more practical.
A high price
The main weak point of the Garmin Lily 2 Active is its price: €349. This price seems excessive given the technical limitations of the watch, particularly in terms of the screen and navigation. Fortunately, I repeat: Garmin does not require a monthly subscription for its Garmin Connect application, essential health and activity data analysis software, which is nevertheless one of the most complete and advanced on the market (if not the simply better):
Conclusion
The Garmin Lily 2 Active is a stylish and feminine smartwatch with great features for health and sports tracking. However, its basic screen, its navigation could be improved and its high price leave a mixed feeling. Before buying, it is important to carefully weigh the pros and cons, and compare with other competing models.
