According to local media, three men were traveling in a car to attend a wedding in Bareilly. Taking the route suggested by Google Maps, they found themselves on a bridge, part of which had been washed away by floods a few months earlier.
The vehicle plunged almost 15 meters from the structure to end its fall into the Ramganga river.

According to the press agency Press Trust of Indiapolice and representatives of the Department of Public Works want to sue the navigation system in this case. Relatives of the victims, for their part, took issue with the local authorities, denouncing the absence of barriers and warning signs.
“We support the investigation” responds Google
“We send our most sincere condolences to the families. We are working closely with the authorities and supporting the investigation,” a Google spokesperson told the Hindustan Times.
This is not the first time that the mapping service has been implicated in an accident. A year ago, several tourists died in the Periyar River after following a route suggested by Google Maps.
