Looking at the images attached to this article, you might have been tempted to call this new product a smart ring? No way! Amazfit is launching a smart ring, the Helios Ring.

What’s the difference? During a press conference, the brand explained that in their eyes, a ring is positioned more towards athletes, while a ring is aimed more at the general public with a more lifestyleThe brand does not rule out launching a product categorized as a ring in the future.

Two sizes and a certain sobriety

This positioning aimed at athletes is particularly felt in the very sober design of the watch. If you approach your gaze very closely, you will distinguish tiny dots on a part of the surface, otherwise flat and monochrome. By passing your finger over it, there is no texture that stands out despite the small dots.

We were able to wear it for a few minutes, so it’s hard to draw a definitive conclusion, but it seemed a little thick to us, but not enough to be annoying in the long run. In terms of sizes, for now, the Helios Ring only comes in sizes 10 and 12, but size 8 should be coming soon. For our part, with fairly small hands, size 10 was still too big for the ring finger, but was suitable for the index finger.

A ring for athletes

Like many sports watches, this is far from a ring that you could wear as a piece of jewelry. Like any smart ring, this smart ring hides its heart rate sensors inside the ring as you can see in the pictures below.

Where Amazfit wants to stand out more is by offering a fusion of data with a watch from the same brand. The idea is this: smartwatches are practical for having health data, but wearing them at night is not always the most comfortable. The ring could thus take over from a watch.

The Chinese brand could not have chosen a better launch date for its connected ring, the first copies of which will be delivered on July 10, 2024. This is precisely the date planned by Samsung for its Galaxy Unpacked 2024 in Paris, where the Galaxy Ring, the Korean giant’s first connected ring, is expected.
