The big return of “Fortnite” on iPhone and iPad is fast approaching. Its publisher Epic Games announced that it had sent its Epic Games Store and its famous game to Apple for approval. “The Epic Games Store and Fortnite submitted to Apple for the required notarization procedure (editor’s note: process of validating an app),” Epic Games wrote on the X network, sharing its plans in the mobile field.

The American video game studio was forced to remove its famous battle royale title from the App Store in August 2020 after trying to escape the tax levied by Apple on in-app purchases. But after a long legal battle and the entry into force of the European regulation on digital markets (DMA), Apple saw itself obliged to open the iPhone software ecosystem to accept alternatives to the App Store. So far, few players have seized this opportunity, in particular due to high fees and compliance requirements imposed by Apple, recalls the site 9To5Mac.

Epic Games, which is not announcing a launch date, expects “Fortnite” to be available in the coming months on iOS in Europe. The company also plans to make its games accessible in other mobile app stores, he said. “We want to talk with all the stores that offer excellent conditions to all developers,” explains Epic Games.

As a reminder, its successful game has already been able to reappear on iPhone unofficially, via Nvidia’s GeForce Now or Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming platforms.
